Superformance MkIII 427 SC

Superformance MkIII 427 SC

$58,000.00

1996 Superformance MkIII 427SC SPO 0113 Red with white stripes. VIN #5F08C227499

21,450 miles on car.

Keith Craft built Pond block stroked to 482 c.i. Eagle crank and rods with Diamond pistons.

601 HP and 610 ft/lbs torque. This is a new $32K engine build!

Note this car has been re-powered and this new engine and transmission have only done around 4500 miles.

Tremec TKO 600 5 speed transmission.

Ford 8.8” independent rear end with 3.73:1 ratio.

Ceramic coated headers and side pipes.

Polished stainless steel surge (expansion) tank.

Accusump for reserve pressurized oil in case of starvation under acceleration or cornering.

New Wilwood clutch master cylinder.

5 point harnesses on both seats.

Belt bar on roll bar for harness shoulder straps.

German leather covered fiberglass bucket seats.

These seats have been repaired and steel reinforced on the sides.

Pin drive aluminum Halibrand style wheels with 3 eared knock off spinner nuts aircraft safety wired.

Avon tires 295/50-15 and 245/60-15 with good tread and very even wear pattern for wide soft tires.

Tri bar blue dot halogen headlights.

Additional brake lights installed (not currently connected)

Comp spun aluminum mirrors both sides also with an additional bullet mirror on drivers side.

Wide angle cowl mounted rear view mirror. I didn’t like the look of it at first but it is very practical and has the added bonus of giving you a glance of your passengers expression as you rip through the gears.

Optima battery.

Fire extinguisher.

Floor mats.

Soft top and bows.

Tonneau cover.

Side curtains which are great for touring and the English look.

Stone chips and scratches in paint, quite a few around the nose.

New wiper blades have been installed.

If I was keeping this car I would address the following.

Corrected geometry ball joints would make the steering much lighter with less bump steer.

Rear shock mounts have long shoulder grade 8 bolts but 4 bolt upgrade would be even better.

Wiper switch has play.

Instrument lights need a service. There is one bright one and a couple that need replacing.

Needs a new rear roll bar grommet.

The frame could use a cleanup and re-paint where a master cylinder had leaked previously and a couple of flakey spots could be touched up.

This car has a very tractable stroked out big block with huge HP and torque. It is a very drive-able and fun car that is set up with top, side curtain and tonneau cover options. These make it a great weekend away or touring car. When you get on it the car is absolutely heart pounding to drive that has an exhaust note of an old Mustang………as in a P51 with the aircraft open headers sound. Yet at speeds of around 45-55 mph you can still talk to each other in the car.

This car has a great ride height, stance and look to it. It has just been gone over by Cobra specialist Nick Acton http://actoncobra.com/

This car is not a trailer queen, it is a beast of a car that is a real driver. It wants to be driven but still looks good sitting in a car show or in a parade.

If you are not familiar with the Superformance brand they are built by a factory in South Africa that builds several different brands and models. They are the only Cobra replica that is built under license to Carroll Shelby as a Shelby authorized product. They are built right alongside the new Shelby 4000 continuation cars as well as other models. Being factory built cars they are a high quality consistent car with sensible and neat plumbing and wiring with twice as many P clamps as they need.

The cars are assembled from quality factory parts and some OEM parts on service items.

They have factory support through a dealership network providing parts and service.

There is a dedicated forum for these cars with online bulletins, tech support and brand loyal discussion.

S.C.O.F. Superformance Cobras Owners Forum.

This is an early example in very solid shape and pretty clean underneath.

They have tubular steel control arms with wide stable triangles and x bracing to make very sturdy suspension with nice geometry and adjustable coil over shocks with a front swaybar.

They have Wilwood disc brakes front and rear that really work well which is reassuring in a street missile like this.

This one has a 15” wood rimmed riveted steering wheel with chipping polyurethane and Smiths gauges in a vinyl covered dash panel like the original cars.

Exterior hardware and latches are like an original car but with key locks on the hood handles.

Interior is nicely trimmed and finished off.

Car is available for inspection and test drive in Holderness NH. Call Nick at 603-279-0241 with any questions.

A new SPF to these specs would cost $98K ~ Buy this one for $40K under that!!
